There’s a clear gap in this year’s MTV VMA nominations- and it involves a monster. Welcome back to ClevverMusic. Could a monster attack be heading MTV’s way? This year’s 2012 MTV Video Music Award nominations were announced, with Rihanna, Drake, and Katy Perry leading with the most nominations. Other noteworthy nominees include newcomer Frank Ocean, M.I.A., Coldplay and Kanye’s Watch the Throne.

Clearly missing from the nominees was last year’s pseudo-host of the show, Lady Gaga. Not a single nomination for Mother Monster, and Little Monsters are now threatening to boycott the show. Gaga has already won 13 VMAs in her short career, and was nominated for a record amount of 9 in 2009. This year she had two videos eligible to be nominated: “Marry the Night” and “You and I”.

Little Monsters have already gotten the hashtag trending on Twitter #VMAsarenothingwithoutgaga. So with no possible meatdress , or Gaga’s Jo Calderone alter-ego, we think this year’s show will suffer. Also snubbed this year was Adam Lambert and Britney Spears with zero nominations.

So what went wrong? We think there is foul play here and somehow Gaga was deliberately snubbed. Do you think she should have been nominated? Leave us a comment. Be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel so you don’t miss any VMA news, see you soon!
