Lady Gaga was turned away from a bar in Australia, we’ve got the details! Hey Little Monsters, welcome back to ClevverMusic! Yes, we are asking ourselves the same question, who in their right mind would turn Mother Monster away from a bar? Australian bar and event space, Cherry Bar, turned away Gaga’s after party and performance, choosing to have their house blues-rock band Jackson Firebird perform instead.
But isn’t Lady Gaga a Grammy-winning pop star that sells out concerts around the globe? That didn’t matter to Cherry co-owner James Young, who decided to keep the local band on stage instead of letting Gaga go on.
Australian newspaper The Age reported that Jackson Firebird was to go on at nine PM, but Gaga’s band did not want to clear the stage to make way for them. Co-owner James Young was quoted describing his decision, “…I’d rather be remembered as the person who wouldn’t budge on an existing booking for a local band.”
But it wasn’t like Gaga was a complete stranger, either. Gaga had played at the bar before during previous tour stops in Australia, and it looks like she won’t be going back their anytime soon. The bar has a history of hosting intimate rock events for big names in music such as, Jack Black, The Black Keys, and Oasis.
What do you think of the bar’s decision to turn Gaga away- admirable or foolish? Leave a comment below and be sure to subscribe to ClevverMusic for your daily music updates, see you!
